Company History
A Proven Company. Proven Solutions.
Originally founded in 1985 as LAN Systems, LANDesk was acquired by Intel Corporation in 1991. In 2002, LANDesk was established as a standalone company. Then, in 2006, LANDesk was acquired by Avocent. And with over two decades of continuous innovation, award-winning products, and consistent industry leadership, LANDesk is positioned for continued exceptional growth in a rapidly expanding market.
Proven Innovation
LANDesk has a history of innovating both technologies and products. LANDesk’s innovations include:
- LANDesk® Management Gateway with patented technology that enables enterprises to manage previously unreachable users across the Internet—without a dedicated leased line or VPN.
- LANDesk® Trusted Access™ technology to help enterprises identify and quarantine infected managed and unmanaged computers and access compatibility with Cisco and DHCP network access control capabilities.
- LANDesk® Targeted Multicast™ technology that reduces network traffic by using a temporary subnet representative to simultaneously distribute large OS or application packages to multiple systems.
- LANDesk® Peer Download™ technology to speed configuration policy management by using packages from previous recipients on the same subnet, reducing the number of packages sent over the WAN.
- Complete, integrated management support for Apple Macintosh computers, including inventory assessment, software distribution and remote control.
LANDesk continues to develop cost-effective systems, security and process management solutions that are easy-to-use, deploy and scale.
Proven Solutions
Proven Industry Leadership
LANDesk is committed to both product and standards leadership. Since 1991, LANDesk has worked closely with leading technology vendors and industry standards bodies to develop emerging and open standards across the systems and security management landscape, including the DMI and CIM initiatives as well as enabling technologies such as Wake on LAN and Alert on LAN.
LANDesk cofounded the Desktop Management Task Force (DMTF) and spearheaded the Web-based Enterprise Management (WbEM) initiative.
Proven Company Performance
At a time when many companies are retrenching, LANDesk consistently reports profitability, record sales and has maintained revenue growth of more than 30% annually. LANDesk also continues to create worldwide alliances with leading PC and systems vendors, systems integrators and ISVs, and other partners.
